Zalando is to fashionistas what Spotify is to music lovers. Founded in 2008, the company is one of the leading online platforms for fashion and lifestyle in Europe today. FIEGE came on board as a trusted logistics provider in 2011 and has been supporting Zalando with its logistics expansion into international markets ever since.
Success like no other
It all began with a scream of joy; since then, Zalando has turned the fashion industry upside down. Over the past 14 years, the Berlin-based business has become one of the leading online fashion platforms in Europe. Zalando hosts 6,000+ brands and ships footwear, fashion, accessories and beauty products to 25 countries at present. This calls for high-performance logistics – which FIEGE has been providing since 2011.
Depending on the location, the Greven-based logistics provider performs a range of different services for Zalando. These include B2C fulfilment, warehousing, returns management, store supply, transportation, customs clearance as well as value-added services such as product photography. With FIEGE’s support, Zalando was able to internationalise its logistics and move closer to its customers across Europe.
A lot of firsts
“In order to offer our customers the best possible convenience, at Zalando, we have continuously expanded our European logistics network. For locations outside our home market Germany, we work with experienced partners such as FIEGE that are responsible for delivering site operations. With FIEGE, we found a partner that has extensive expertise in the field of e-commerce logistics and has a good understanding of the market-specific and local characteristics. In 2019, Zalando and FIEGE opened the first logistics centre in Olsztynek, Poland, which supplies members of the Zalando Lounge shopping club. Further locations are found in Germany, the Czech Republic and Hungary, and target markets span the whole of Europe, from Spain to Scandinavia. By now, FIEGE manages some 600,000 square metres at 13 facilities in five countries for Zalando.
Solid foundation of trust
The collaboration between Zalando and FIEGE is defined by an open and fair exchange. Both companies share an unlimited willingness to meet high expectations and achieve specific goals. And no project says ‘we did it’ like the take-over of the Zalando facility in Brieselang by the Greven-based logistics company in 2019. In the world of fashion, this would likely be considered a perfect fit.
